Why I don’t want to go to hell and so won’t you

Two weeks ago, I had a bad burn on my finger, it was swollen and it hurt so much. While I was enduring the pain of my little burn, I told God, “God, if in Hell, this little burn be multiplied…I really don’t want to go there. Thank you for saving me, Jesus!” No joke, I was so thankful for that burn because it made me realize what God spared me from.

Some people think Heaven is boring and all the angels will just flutter around and sing everyday. Most people I know envision hell like a live nightclub where they can freely do drugs and fornication while Satan acts as the DJ. I will talk about heaven next time but now, I’ll talk about hell.

Look, people, hell is NOT cool! It’s the perfect opposite of cool!

I haven’t gone and I have no plans on going to hell but listen to a man who did. Remember the rich man in one of Jesus’ parables? Read what he says in Luke 16:24: And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’

Also, in the last book of Revelation, John recounted what the Lord showed him. It is written in 14:11 that “the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night…”

 And if you ever think that when you die, it’s just blank darkness, think again. In Revelation 19:20, it says, “These two (the Beast and the Prophet) were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.” Did you read that word ‘alive’? Oh yes, you’re going to feel every torment.

 God is neither KJ nor OA! (Ask a Filipino friend about this :P) He simply wants to save you from these.

Hell is not a party. Hell is not a nightclub. Hell is hell. Unquenchable fire, burning sulfur, pits of darkness, burning wind…all in one place.

Truth is, all our sins, however big or little, deserves hell. Why? Because Heaven is PERFECT! I can’t go there because of my good works. They simply don’t cancel my sins out. The only way is JESUS. You know what He did? He died for you. So that when you receive His gift of salvation, His blood will cover your sins and you can enter heaven because of His perfect blood.

Maybe you’re saying, “Hindi naman totoo yan!” I may not know everything but I trust my God who does. “Eh, pano nga kung hindi totoo?!” I hear people say that. Here’s my response: Eh, pano kung totoo?

At the end of the day, it’s still your choice. But just to let you know that pop culture’s picture of hell is not true. READ THE BIBLE! SEEK GOD.
